Recycling
Andrew Jenkins

Andrew is a Recycling Officer from Cherwell Valley. He is quite an expert in his field of Recycling, having received the accolade of Recycling Officer of the Year. He has set up community groups on recycling activities and sits on the WRAP panel.

Review of the evening Andrew has now moved on to another job so Emily Schofield kindly stepped in to give our talk. She is the Recycling officer for South Northants Council and Cherwell District Council, so although her information was relevant for Milton Malsor residents,  it was very different for those of us who live in Collingtree, Hunsbury and Hardingstone. She explained which objects were to be put in which bins and where the items go when they are collected. The uses of the recycled materials whichever area you live in are the same however they are collected, stored and redistributed.
Recycled waste from Milton goes to Helmdon then Shotton in North Wales where materials are separated and redistributed. Some people thought that this was a long way to take it but even if it started off in MK, another depot, it would potentially be shipped to the south coast, Edinburgh or Halifax. It all depends where the plants are. It is not financially viable to have plants in every town.
We are all encouraged to recycle as much as we can and figures show that generally we are doing very well in this area.
