WOMEN'S RUGBY WORLD CUP 2025
Northamptonshire Federation of WIs was asked to Yarnbomb some of the street furniture within the St James area of Northampton that lead to Franklins Gardens, and where some of the World Cup matches will be played, including England. This will be a high profile event shown on TV and social media across the world and gives us an opportunity to put Northamptonshire WIs on the world stage!

We had the pleasure of meeting some of the England players including Abby Dow, well known for her crotcheting, and Holly Aitchison. We presented them with a braid of your Red Roses which they are going to hang in their changing rooms for each match.

A huge thank you to England Rugby and the wonderful #RedRoses for meeting fans, our local Rugby Players and the WI at Daventry Library. There were lots of smiles, selfies, and signatures! #RWC2025 #WRWC2025

Here are a few images of the project. Congratulations to all concerned - the designers, knitters, donators, and those who helped put up the yarnbombing. WIs and friends from all over Northamptonshire were involved. You did us proud!!

We joined St George and his dragon on the Market Square Northampton to celebrate St George's Day. It was an ideal opportunity to showcase some of the yarnbombing we have prepared in readiness for the Womens World Rugby Cup matches to be held in August 2025. Carolyn was busy showing young girls how to crochet!

YARNBOMBING – WWRC 2025
I am really excited about the progress we are making with the yarnbombing project and extremely grateful to all of you who are taking part. I can’t wait to see it all on display. With that in mind we are looking for people that may be able to help in a practical way by sewing things together ready for display. We also need people to help us attach the displays onto the allotted street furniture and railings. This will entail tying, stapling, sewing or knitting things We hope to have a local facility to use for storage whilst we do this.
