The Annual Resolutions meeting

Two resolutions to be debated on by Wis throughout the country in readiness for the Annual meeting in Brighton.

Appropriate care in hospitals for people with dementia
We call upon HM Government and the NHS to provide facilities to enable carers to stay with people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia that have been admitted into hospital.

Avoid food waste, address food poverty.
The WI calls on all supermarkets to sign up to a voluntary agreement to avoid food waste, thereby passing surplus food on to charities thus helping to address the issue of increasing food poverty in the UK.

These two resolutions were extensively debated and the votes taken.

Competition:  Perhaps last month's talk encouraged you to check out your garage or loft for something interesting that was tucked away. Bring it along for this month's competition to find An Unusual Bygone Object. We decided that we would like everyone to bring their bygone objects for display rather than for a competition. An interesting display was formed.

Members were encouraged to peruse the display of bygone objects, partake in refreshments and then sit back and be entertained by 5 of the committee who put on a comic sketch of Cinderella. They sat in a row, with very straight faces and delivered their lines when standing up. A simple idea but the audience enjoyed it very much!

Narrator - Lorraine, Prince Charming - Sheila, Cinderella - Paula,  Ugly Sister - Susan, Fairy Godmother - Janet.
