DENMAN NEWS - THE WI LEARNING HUB - October 2024

I read that Anupreet Jeetun, former Head of DENMAN has now been appointed Director of Learning & Development and so assume he now has a new email address to go with his position. I did contact him last month with a WI Learning Hub suggestion, and enquiry and received no reply! Will investigate and try again! However, this slight blip does not detract from what is offered on the Learning Hub. Have you checked out the web page recently? Looking ahead towards the end of September - you can make a table runner (5 week course); have a talk on Liverpool; learn about former US President Woodrow Wilson; do Pilates; crochet a hat - oh my goodness, what a lot of choice and all for free!

DENMAN NEWS - THE WI LEARNING HUB - July/August 2024

According to a speaker at the AGM at the Royal Albert Hall, there are approximately 54 courses a month being delivered via the Learning Hub, with an average of 3,884 on a course and 6,000 booking monthly. Looking at the details I noticed that there are plenty of different craft courses, but that the majority of them are during the daytime, whilst the evening courses are for more serious talks - history, travel, sign language, foreign cities, culture, etc. We will be trying to rectify this.

The Denman Learning Hub is now up and running! Some of you have had problems logging in and getting your free courses. You need to login using the email address associated with your ‘My WI’ . You will be then recognized as a member and the course will be free. Although Denman at Home had been running for the last few years, the Learning Hub is in its infancy, and more courses will be added. It is nice to know that three or four of the staff who worked at Denman College are still with NFWI, administrating the hub. If there is anything you would like to see added, please either email me or the Learning Hub direct.
