Pilates for All with Alexis

Alexis will adapt her presentation to suit all abilities, so whether you are active or chair bound or somewhere in between, she will have something for you. So don’t stay away!

Pilates aims to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing.

Review of the evening

Brenda introduced Alexis Prince-Donoghue who is a Pilates instructor. Alexis explained a little about the fundamental techniques of Joseph Pilates, the man behind it all.

'Through a combination of strength and mobility exercises, Pilates systematically and progressively works to help retrain our bodies to be able to move and function more efficiently, optimising our health and overall well-being. It strengthens and tones the core muscles of the trunk to help posture and return to more of an ideal neutral spine alignment..... It is a wonderful way to gently rewind and destress for all ages'. More of this explanation can be read on Alexis' Facebook page - ADP Pilates.

With the help of our newest members, Jacqui, Nicola and Katie, Alexis demonstrated many different simple movements which we could all try either sitting down or standing up. Everyone attempted as much as they could and looking at the expressions on faces, all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All the exercises can be done at home so probably there will be a few more converts to the World of Pilates after this evening.
