Alcohol Ink Art Demo with Participation
Glenys Sandham
Alcohol inks are amazing!
Everyone can use them and produce something wonderful, without needing any artistic ability or experience.
Glenys will be demonstrating a few methods of how to use the inks and then you can each have a go and enjoy an interesting and exciting process. You will have a finished piece to take home with you. She is looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing what you can produce.
Review of the Evening
Everyone agreed that this had been a most enjoyable evening with surprises all round at the achievements.
Glenys demonstrated the safety aspects, including wearing an apron and plastic gloves and uses of alcohol inks to everyone. She introduced the tools of the trade for the evening. These included, white tiles, Yupo paper - a special synthetic paper suitable for this kind of painting, cotton buds, straws, pipettes, sponges, felt pads, embossing tools, cut up credit cards, and spray bottles of alcohol and of course a wide variety of inks.
She showed members how to put the ink drops on the tile, move it around, add other colours, use the tools and then invited everyone to experiment. She and Paula were on hand to suggest ideas, encourage and praise the achievements (in true school teacher mode as they both were). Members were amazed at the delightful designs they produced and some went on to make their paper designs into Greetings cards, using easily obtainable aperture cards. The tiles can be varnished and mounted and make delightful wall hangings, or stands for plant pots, coasters etc. Altogether a super evening and we plan to have Glenys back at a future date to show us how to make felt.
