Denman at Home - message from Northamptonshire Federation's Denman Ambassador
When they do open, they will obviously need our support. One way you can help is by participating in their on-line courses. They have introduced over the last month ‘Denman at Home’. It’s easy, it’s cheap and it’s fun. You do have to have a computer, (iPad or iPhone). Download Zoom -the blue video camera icon –it’s free. Go to the Denman website –then events –all the courses for on-line are listed and they are adding more all the time. There are talks, yoga, cookery demonstrations to suit all tastes and some craft courses. They last an hour-ish, cost £5 and are on at different times of the day and evening. When you have paid (on-line transaction), Denman will send you an invitation and a password. About 5 minutes before the meeting is due to start, log onto Zoom, press ‘Join Meeting’ and follow instructions. Sit back, relax and enjoy.Anyone can join the meeting, you don’t have to be a WI member. Men are seen lurking too!!!!! Some couples even watch together!!!! Maybe it’s something a neighbour or daughter would enjoy, tell them to log into Denman too and just follow instructions –the more the merrier!!
Please spread the word to EVERYONE and encourage friends and neighbours to join us for a night out at home! See you there, I’ll give you a wave!  Christine

During the Pandemic Denman is postponing all courses and specific events but Denman At Home is Open, see above. Please contact Denman directly if you have a booking to discuss how you wish to proceed. We understand that many of you are concerned about current bookings and may wish to receive a refund, however we are all conscious of the financial impact this period of closure may have on Denman and therefore request you to consider postponing your booking to a later date rather than cancelling if this is possible. Thank you for your continued support for Denman.

Calendar Girls Event - March 2016
It was a super day and incredible to hear what an experience the girls had from the small beginnings of an idea (said in jest!) for an alternative WI Calendar to the great times they had along the way with press coverage, TV shows, film, play, the musical, etc. They shared lovely humourous stories but never lost sight of the reason they were doing it all; to raise money for Leukemia Research in memory of Angela Baker's husband, John.
Photo shows Gwen, Sue, Miss February (Angela Baker), Miss October (Tricia Stewart), Miss September (Christine Clancy) and Pat.

Towcester Evening WI members with Calendar Girls

In July 2015 the sub committee "bonding" course planned to visit London's Gardens. Not so, a tube strike put paid to that!! BUT every cloud has a silver lining and we discovered Broughton Grange. A delightful garden with something new around every corner. We also visited NT Buscot Park, all with our knowledgeable an approachable Tutor, Letta Jones.

In October 2014 the Northamptonshire bedroom was refurbished by a team of Shirley and Peter Corke, Chris Kingstone and Carolyn Stone.

March 2014 saw Northamptonshire members enjoying four different courses - Cryptic Crosswords, Mosaics for the Garden, Hand Quilting and a group visited Oxfordshire Gardens. Weather was glorious and Denman welcoming in every way.

Sub-committee members enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Denman in early June visiting the Botanical Gardens in Oxford, The Harcourt Arboretum (where a peacock took a fancy to a member's sandwich) as well as studying the wonderful specimen trees in the grounds of the college.

Members visited Denman in March 2013 and enjoyed the sunshine as well as the courses on offer.  Certificates were presented at end of the Cookery Course.
